Fashion, Consumerism and the Environment: Performance art, sculpture, installation work and photography

For many years, advertising tactics and the available fashions have prompted us to express bodily perfection, with the endeavour to allot ourselves satisfaction, importance or prestige in society. The natural environment, resources and beauty however, are also affected and deteriorating more and more by the excess quantities in which we buy and often waste. Details of Creation: 10x10cm painted pieces depicting intricate details and beauty

The sheer design within nature is truly amazing, the forms, contrasting colours, textures, patterns and the growth of everything is so vast, vibrant and complex, it is overwhelming but harmonious. Entities of nature cannot be re-created, we can only imitate it by artistic methods or capture fragments of it by photography, or we can destroy it. Nature is delicate and transient, and these are some of the qualities that give it a significant beauty to preserve what we have left. Click on the picture or the link above for more information.

Impacts on the Natural Environment: Deterioration of the environment by human interference

Inspired by the variety of colour, design and intricate or multiple details, a wide-range of works were created that express different topics about human interference within the natural environment. This project explored aspects of deterioration to the natural environment by ‘controlled’ fires in the Australian bush. While some bush regions are being regenerated in many ways, other parts of Australia are not benefiting or improving from the continual burns that arise. The natural environment, its resources and beauty are deteriorating more and more by the excess burns and controlled burns that have often roared out-of- control.
